A successful environmental career is not created overnight. It requires hard work, a desire for education and the proper framework. Many have found that framework in a strong education here at Florida State University. While we are proud of all past, present and future Seminoles, here are a few of our most noteworthy alumni:
  • Stephanie Abrams (BS Meterology), Meterologist for the Weather Channel
  • Dr. Landon Ross (MS Geology, PhD Biology), notable environmental biologist
  • Dr. Norman Thagard (BS Engineering, MS Engineering), former NASA astronaut
  • Aleksander Popovic (MA 1996), Serbian Minister of Science and Environmental Protection
  • Jason Altmire (BS Political Science), US Representative and member of Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment
Whether you have a passion for science, engineering or policy, Florida State is fully equipped to get you on the right path for your environmental career. Your very own Environmental Experience awaits!!

Undergraduate Programs

Studying the environment is more than one major or one field of study. As a scientist, you have the choice to concentrate on one aspect of the environmental sciences like biology, chemistry, geology etc., you can focus on applied sciences like engineering or even get a little bit of everything with the new BS in Environmental Sciences. If you are more interested in humanities and public policy then degree programs like the BA in Environmental Sciences might be a good choice.

At FSU, we offer students a spectrum of environmental degrees that vary between rigorous math requirements to those programs which focus more on the human political dimension.

Descriptions of Environmental focused majors available at FSU:
